Gas prices have been hovering around $4 a gallon, and that's causing a problem for one Sinclair station -- the pumps don't go above $3.99.

Hersch Casey has owned the Mission gas station since 1959. He said he started pumping gas in 1954, when gas was just 15 cents a gallon.

"Everything in here is like me -- getting old, but it's still around," Casey told KMBC's Chris Nagus.

Casey said he never thought his old-fashioned gas pumps would cause a problem.

"I never even dreamed of it being this high. It's out of hand, completely," Casey said.

The prices are changing the way Casey conducts business. He said his old sign doesn't have a four for the dollar column, so it's spray-painted on.

"Do you think you will need a five?" Nagus asked.

"I hope not," Casey said.

The sign was easy to fix, but it took some quick math to solve the price-at-the-pump problem.

"I thought, 'Well, that's no problem. We can cope with that,'" Casey said.

Instead, the pumps read half price. For example, if gas is $4.30 a gallon, Casey sets up his pumps at $2.15 and then doubles the total price.

"It's not hard to figure out," Casey said.

Despite the high prices, Casey said he's not changing anything about his full-service station.

"Everything else around here is just the way I want it," Casey said.
