@SirTonyChaos considering Wess is on this, this episode would actually have been from 2005 or so. It was just re-uploaded to youtube years later. You can also tell from the IDE, 32mb CF card etc.

hi,
sorry to say this info is slightly out of date now.
i have built a few NAS using freenas and it is a good cheap way of doing it. the info that is wrong is not been able to boot from a CF card. the new version of freenas allows for the program to be used from CF card and once installed there is no need for a cd rom. build the nas and install from an external if needs be and remove. GREAT FREE PROGRAM!! this video is selling it short at the mo.
