for the past 2 hours ive been going thru every song on illmatic and finding where the gold came from... It's so amazing, i started with one love and The Heath Brothers - smilin billy suite, which is played on an African instrument called a Mbira (which ive never heard of before), to this, fkin music from the 20s!!! Q-Tip, Pete Rock, and all the rest of the producers on this album, I wish i could thank them for everything, not only Illmatic, but for broadening my musical spectrum. peace

This gives me the goosebumps..... damn just got a greater appreciation for what illmatic meant to the genre

Azures7 , Imagine that, a lost classic, but ive heard that Premier listens to the whole sample before he makes the beat, so does Pete Rock, Peace

I wonder how Premo came up on the Lee Erwin sample, I really doubt there was any vinyl ost put out to this film from 1927...he must have ripped it from an old vhs or somethin
