There is always more than one reason for any mistake. An out to in clubpath can cause a shank, it will also cause the player to block the release to keep the club square. When pitching the ball, trying to cut the ball too much will often cause the release to be blocked, causing the player to dip into the ball hitting it fat or shanking the ball. This video describes a basic pitch shot with a neutral swing path.

It's good that you take the time to help people but come on, tension in the wrists doesn't cause a shank, an out-to-in swing path does, so instead of you slicing the ball with your driver. you will shank it with a wedge because the wedge has a hosel and a driver doesn't. How many people shank the ball with a draw or hook shot, no one does, but again at least you're trying to help.

This was a highly informative tutorial on the pitch. Jonathan's swing isn't one I could maintain. It is visually appealing and obviously effective. I certainly am intrigued by the product.
