My brother John, friend Tom and Steve fished Taylor River with me for the annual trip to CO. The fishing was excellent even though there were lots of people on the river but found few trout here and there between them and caught most of them including these two big ones. Tommy's trout was at least an inch or two longer and wider than mine. We used iYong Blondie, Yong JR, Yong Special and Yong Wing flies on two fly mixes throughout the day.

  • Get on HWY 285 North from Santa Fe and drive to Poncha Springs then make left on HWY 50 to Gunnison. From Gunnison head north on HWY 135 to Almont then make right turn to Taylor Res. Happy fishing!

  • We're there May 13th and the river was very high but clear. We used iYong Blondie, Yong Wing, Yong JR, Yong Special and YOJ flies depends on where we fished (above or below the bridge). The tip I can give you is that go to my website then click on Andy's Seminars and study my #3 rigging for deep and fast water fishing setup. Happy fishing! AK

  • I agree with everyone else. This fish was demoralized and probably injured because you wanted to prove something to your buddies. Please keep the fish in the water, use forceps and try to minimize contact with the trout. Even worse, this vid was taken during spawning season for bows....

  • This is one tough video to watch. On one hand I had to laugh at the spectacle these yahoos made of themselves. On the other hand these guys are abusing a precious resource with such arrogance and selfishness that I find it sickening. Go back down to the San Juan.

  • so many negative comments about fish handling? the man knows how to handle fish. and anyone that can land a trout of that size any better without exhausting it to the point of non-recovery, please show us a better video. Personally when I see these kind of comments I start thinking that the authors are basically jealous? there are always going to be negative people that are going to say something negative in a public way, rather than sending a message to the person directly. time to grow up

  • How do you get tot the Taylor river from Albuquerque, NM??

  • Yeah I agree, your fish handling skills need major improvement! Worry less on the video and photo's. Tourist! I've seen other gapers up there drag the fish on the shore across the rocks, rip the hook out and throw it back in the water. Thanks for raping the Taylor.

  • I agree. The fish handling skills need improvement! Less worry on the video and photo's. Tourist! I've seen other gapers up there drag the fish on the shore and rip the hook out then just throw the fish back in the water.
