"Roger Ailes, the longtime Republican media guru, founder of Fox News and its current chairman, had some advice last year for then-Gen. David H. Petraeus.
So in spring 2011, Ailes asked a Fox News analyst headed to Afghanistan to pass on his thoughts to Petraeus, who was then the commander of U.S. and coalition forces there. Petraeus, Ailes advised, should turn down an expected offer from President Obama to become CIA director and accept nothing less than the chairmanship of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military post. If Obama did not offer the Joint Chiefs post, Petraeus should resign from the military and run for president, Ailes suggested."*
Most media outlets ignored this story; even the Washington Post, who broke the tale of Fox News' ridiculous ethical ineptitude buried it in the "Style" section. Why? Cenk Uygur, Ben Manckiewicz, and John Iadarola (Host, TYT University) break it down.

Maybe it wasn't a huge story because nobody was surprised that Fox news would be party to that?

"We don't sacrifice freedom to save lives."
Works nicely as a slogan, but doesn't stand up to scrutiny. In practice, every society has to place some limits of the exercise of free will.
You can justify this as being a protection of the free will of others (you don't have freedom to do anything if you've been shot dead)
Guns do not guarantee freedoms either. Your guns didn't prevent the passing of the Patriot Act. That Act would never have passed in a European country thanks to the ECHR.

Thank you for trying to show this dingus the light. I can only hope that more smart people will start trying to show the blind how mislead and uninformed they are. Unfortunately, I'm afraid they won't see it until they've systematically taken away all of our rights.

Way to run rampant with assumptions and hyperbole :D I love that you have the gall to mention the First Amendment. My right to weapons is just as valid as your right to free speech--in fact, it is what makes your right possible. If you want to lose the First (and the rest of them in turn), just take away the Second.

That's a sound base to start from, why bother with a legal system, just go around with a gun and dispense justice. Did they look at you funny, are you having a bad day, maybe it was a gun he was holding but it was dark, he was black and listening to music, I felt threatened. Not only do you want to kill people but you want to threaten people that say you shouldn't have the right to kill people. FREE SPEECH except when I don't agree. I'm done with your lunacy, happy life killing people.

I bet Petraeus was exposed in political retaliation for remaining loyal to Obama

Freedom most definitely IS the ability to walk into Walmart and buy something built to kill humans because killing humans is sometimes necessary. It is intimately tied into the natural right of self-preservation, be that from predatory animals, criminals or a rogue government. Any threat to my survival is getting annihilated, and anyone who seeks to infringe on that ability, that right, may want to reconsider their position.
