Canon T1i Hack- Installing Mic Input for External Microphone

Good video. You talked about connecting the internal mic to the soldered jack terminals. Is there a way to disable the internal mic when a 1/8" plug is inserted into the jack?

I believe there is. You just have to buy the proper jack. I was unaware of it when I made this hack.

Awesome! Which is the proper jack for cutting off internal mic when external is plugged in? I saw radio shack had two 1/8" stereo jacks (pkg of 2 like yours, then pkg of one 'closed circuit'). But when I asked, they did not know which one did what. Radio Crack is not the same as it used to be.

what he cut was mic wires, You just have to cut a single wire ... and tap the other to a single another wire .. now you have three wires ... and get the jack ( most of the jacks have three pins) , and sold the three wires to the jack ... I cannot say which wire go to which pin in the jack in a comment like this, because it's rather practical thing to observe what happens in the jack when you inserted the external mic .. this will help to some one who has some knowledge about the jack.
