See how we bend a foam wing for the "combat" version of our ME 163 Komet. This is a special design with a "doubled" leading edge.
Since this video was taken, we no longer use a heat gun to make the final bend. Intead, we simply crimp the inside edge a second time, and the panel will bend the rest of the way without any difficulty.

  • That's true, thanks for the tip. Since making this video I also realized that it's completely unnecessary to use a heat gun as shown here. Instead, I re-compress the inner side of the fold , which allows the foam to go around the corner without a problem..

    Using tape will sometimes tear off the film on the surface of the foam. But it's not a bad idea (you could use mainter's masking tape, which comes off easily). Thanks for your comment.

  • if you put tape at outer side of bend, you can bent as much as you want without braking it.
