Do you think it's ok to remake a movie if it's not terribly well known? The Crazies is a great example of how to remake a not too terribly well known or beloved movie

About remakes, have you even seen The Thing, The Fly and Scarface? If you haven't then see them.

In fact, I have. I own all three. Haha LOVE Carpenter's "The Thing", though I am dubious of it's upcoming prequel. If you name a movie, I've pretty much seen it. I'm about the biggest movie buff out there. =)

Also, did you hear Cronenburg is remaking "The Fly" AGAIN!? I mean, I understand the changing tech might make the ffects better and all but...really? It seems a little much to me.

How come no one complains about the old school remakes like the ones i mentioned as to oppose to the recent remakes?

I think it's a matter of oversaturation with a few standut poor examples. Because there are many more remakes (or at elast remakes of things not quite as old) today, people just tire of them. Also, remakes are only reviled (for the most part) on the internet. Most remakes do well at the box-office. It's the difference betwee nthe fanantics and general public. If I HAD to venture a guess though I'd say remakes aren't handled with as much care nowadays and as such, are disliked more.

You'll also find a lot of people that are stuck in a mindset of "old = classic" and snub more recent films regardless of their relative quality. That, I think, bugs me the most.
