Pt. Mani Prasad - A Legend

Pt. Mani Prasad is on of the exponents of Hindustani Classical Music. He represents the well known Kirana Gharana and is one of the most eminent vocalists and representatives of the Gharana.
Pt Mani Prasad started his Sangeet Sadhana right from his early childhood and received training in Classical Music from his father Pt Sukhdev Prasad and grandfather Pt Shakti Lal who were noted for their purity in classical music all over the music fraternity. He was later guided by his uncles Pt Shankar Lal and Pt Gopal Prasad.
Pt Mani Prasad is now very well known for his Khayal Gayaki. He has been a Radio Artist and has performed across the globe throughout his life.
He has travelled widely in India and abroad and has won laurels and appreciation from his audiences everywhere.
Panditji has received many awards and honors such as the Raseshwar Award, Swarmani Award, Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy Award among many others.
Panditji has invented new Ragas and given new dimensions to several existing ones. He has composed a number of Bandishes in the name of Dhyan Rand Piya.
Pt Mani Prasad is one of the leading propogators of the Guru Shishya Parampara. Among his students are well known personalities such as Rita Ganguly, Savita Maharaj, Ramesh Jule, Chandan Das, Maharaj Ranjit Sinh Gaekwad, Shikha Ganguly, Ranjana Narain, Sucheta Bhattacharya, Nirmala Gopi Krishna etc. as well as his three children Deepak Prasad, Lata Tandon and Lalit Prasad.
