Bungay High School's 2008 production of Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice
Trial by Pilate/39 Lashes: Pilate (Esther) returns to find Jesus (Rory) has not been set free by Herod. Pilate begins to question Jesus, who does not produce satisfactory answers. Pilate is about to set him free, when the crowd begin to call for Jesus to be crucified. Pilate counters them, demanding to know what Jesus has done wrong. But the crowd give him no answer, and just continue to call for Jesus' execution. Although it is against Pilate's better judgement, he decides to try and appease the crowd by having Jesus flogged 39 times. However, even after this, the crowd still call for his death. Pilate is reminded that he is there to keep the peace in Jerusalem. When he still doesn't get an answer from Jesus, he washes his hands of him, leaving him to decide his own fate
38 lashes!?
Wasn't it 39? (I might be wrong)

It's a high school production - these people are not proffessionals, they did a sterling job considering their age and (i'm assuming) experience they've had in the musical theatre profession.

The octives are screwed up. Pilate keeps going from high to low and it isn't consistant.

As this is possibly my favorite song in the opera, I wasn't disappointed. :)
Very much enjoyed your Pilate.
The flashing lights while Jesus was flogged were also very well done. Adds some extra energy, and I'm sure it looked much better in person.
