Original 1955 hit recording.
Sam "The Man" Taylor was a jazz and blues player who set the standard for tenor sax solos in both rock and roll and rhythm and blues. He worked with Scatman Crothers, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Buddy Johnson, Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, and many more. He was one of the most requested session sax players in New York recording studios in the 1950s. It was Taylor's sax solo that appeared on Big Joe Turner's original version of "Shake, Rattle and Roll". He also played on "Money Honey" recorded by The Drifters. This selection hit the charts and juke boxes in 1955, and also is included in his album Blue Mist.

  • @armjoint......never will till you listen without such bias. SOUL comes in all colors. reverse the colors on your comment and how does it read to you. little off huh? some got it some don't. it's an an ability to convey emotion. a skill that can be developed or ignored or an ingredient that the performer cares to add or leave out. look through my playlists of music from many colors, nations and peoples and you'll find plenty soul if you open your mind. peace.

  • This song should be rated "R".

  • King Zephyer. Gotta be....?

  • @whythewar1 Don't worry, man. You seem like a smart kid and judging by your name, you're a peace warrior in the making. Rest assured, you are not alone.

  • This song needs to be in MadMen

  • A great old standard by Sam

  • Sam The Man! Awesome!

  • Absolutely the best rendition!

  • @whythewar1 Jamie Aebersole is great because his CDs have the back-up for many jazz standards and you can play along and improvise. Aebersole has CDs for horn players, drummers, etc. When you get a little older you can attend the Aebersole Jazz workshops and when you're in high school: Northwestern U in Chicago has summer jazz program. Don't be bitter about the other 11 year olds. Think of yourself as part of a world-wide community of jazz musicians. Have fun!

  • @whythewar1 Jazz is sophisticated genre & an acquired taste. They will catch up with you. Google "Ariel Alexander." On YouTube check her out at the Hip Kitty. Somehow, even though we didn't play much jazz at home, Ariel decided it was her music of choice. She played piano & sax and was always ahead of everybody with her jazz ears. Even her high school band teacher. Even the auditions committee for Missouri All State didn't understand if she played too outside. Check into Jamie Aebersole CDs..

  • @whythewar1 I feel you buddy. I was the same kid growing up and no BS, you WILL find like minded souls... it may take time but you will
