Several instrumental duets have billed themselves as "Duo Capriccio", but none with the mastery as reflected in this collaboration by Edith Haesendonckx and Michel Verkempinck. Theirs is arguably the definitive interpretation of Vittorio Monti's composition written for violin and piano.
In 1987 Edith Haesendonckx obtained first prize solfège with great distinction at the Lemmens Institute. Three years later she was also winner violin at the Lemmens Institute. In 1991 she won first prize for chamber music at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp. Edith performed as soloist in Hofheim (Germany) with the "Kottmann-Streicher, conducted by Alois Kottmann. She is currently affiliated teaching violin, ensemble and instrumental ensembles at the music of Ekeren and Deurne. As a freelance violinist, she regularly cooperates with the Marsyas orchestra led by Edmond Save Irish.
Michel Verkempinck started playing guitar at the age of 5 and at 13 he started playing classical guitar. A few years later he received the prize "Honorary Director Jozef Pauly" twice. In 1985 he became the laureate with 1st prize for guitar in the National Music Contest of the Gemeentekrediet Bank of Belgium. Verkempinck has performed in several countries, amongst them Luxemburg, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic and Poland. In 1991, he obtained the higher degree diploma for guitar at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp. In 1998 he gave a guitar demonstration during the international "Music Expo" in the "Ahoy" concert hall in Rotterdam. In July 2004 he supported the Jozef Pauly Ensemble on their tour in the U.S. where he performed several times as soloist.
