So this was my "strong hive" until it swarmed about 2 weeks ago. Since then I had not seen the queen nor any young brood. I did see about 4 queen cells, and actually killed one of the queen larva on accedent when bringing out the frame. So i was looking thru this hive and wasnt seeing any capped or uncapped brood, and then i found the queen.. then some young larva!

  • If the bees swarmed , then you have a young queen and the old queen left with the swarm !

  • @1bluecat100 You could. A lot of the time the old queen will fly with the swarm.

  • ok i see you live in an apartment complex. and next door is a swing set and pool. are the kids safe being so close to those bees?

  • @chourtnii I live in a house, have about 1/3rd acre. Swingset and pool are both in the back yard. I have the bees pointed to the SouthEast, the swings are ENE from the hives. Bees normally go out of the hive and up about 10 or 15 feet. There is a fence to the right side of them (west side). Lots of kids play in our back yard, one 1 sting. One bee flew into the pool and my son came up out of the water under her, he squished her not knowing it was a bee, got stung. 3 years out there, 1 sting.
