Andrea McArdle as Judy Garland in Rainbow. Of course, Judy did not sing I'll Get By on the radio the night her father died; nor did Jackie Cooper introduce her (Wallace Beery did.) But such were the liberties taken by Jackie Cooper who directed and put together the film based on things Judy told him. As far as Judy goes, it's not a very good biopic, but as a kid in the 80's, I remember watching this over and over when it was played about 100 times one summer on the same channel. :)
I agree with you Kokopuffs....This was the wrong part for her...Christopher Finch wrote the book this movie was based on and he was very disappointed that this came out....plus historically on this night she sang ZIng went the strings of my heart.

I have an old Annie album that I bought in the eighties and Andrea plays Annie. My favorite song on there was "Maybe" & hearing her sing "I'll Get By" reminded me of that - nice to hear her voice again, thanks for uploading!

Normally I like Andrea just fine. It was unfortunate that she was chosen to play Judy, since Judy, among many other things, was lauded for having an adult-sounding voice at this age (which set her apart from other talented 13 year olds), and adult sensiblity, and Andrea had none of that. But Andrea, a talented girl, was the "It" kid that year, and there we have it. Donna Pescow was terrific as her sister Jimmie.
