New Years Rockin Eve Times Square Ball Drop 2010-2011

New Years Eve ball drop for 2011. LIVE from Times square taken from 46th St and Broadway. This is the third year in a row that I recorded the ball drop from my prime location and posted the video on You Tube
Traditionally the drop starts with a rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine" roughly four minutes before the New Year, but this year it was performed by musical guest Taio Cruz, followed by the final minute countdown, then once the New Years celebrations are underway the traditional New Years "Auld Lang Syne" then a rendition of Frank Sinatra's "New York New York" is played. I was just below the stage where the Backsteet Boys and NKOTB played however because the stage is set so high and blocked by several obstacles it is almost impossible to watch the acts perform no matter how close you are to the stage, as they are positioned mostly for the television cameras and not the million or so revelers who convene on Times Square every year. Not that I am a fan of these ex-boy bands but would like to see some improvements made in this area next year when there is somebody I do want to see. In the final minute I break out of the barricades to get a better shot of the crowd only to have the NYPD escort me back to the barricades

What time did you go to be on that spot? my husband and I are planning to attend for the first time...how early do you recommend?

@misswanak They usually close the streets to traffic around 4PM , so that's the earliest you can get a spot. They pass out the party bags around 8.Portable chairs usually allowed, no alcohol permitted. No bathroom facilities at all. Usually people just wrap a coat around themselves and go on the floor, so watch your step..
