hey larsa...the original was by the Dubliners...an irish folk band...then passed on to thin lizzy and then to Metallica...this version is pretty sweet...but in my opinion...i like Metallica's version...

a traditional song. Thats why so many bands cover it, there is no copyright!

In my opinion...the best version of this song is by the Irish Rovers...but there is no discounting the other versions. It's a great song :)
