Miami Youth Stand With Haitian Workers in Battle for Minimum Wage

Young Workers in Miami protest at the Haitian Consulate on Coral Way close to Bickell Ave. They are standing in solidarity with Haiti's workers who have been waging a just fight for a minimum wage that would allow them to survive.

Nice video, but to be clear: this was not a FIST event. The only person from FIST there was the person who made the video. This was an event put on by Miami Autonomy & Solidarity in communication with the Haitian-based group, Batay Ouvriye who were on the ground fighting along side other workers for the minimum wage increase. I think it's unprincipled not to make that clear...not to mention implying through the video that it was a FIST event and using it as a promotional video for FIST.

No where does it say this is a FIST event. Like any other videographer who puts time & money into video editing projects, we put the FIST logo & FIST Presents in the video.

The Title of the vid & the clear Youtube description doesn't say FIST organizes demo. It says "Miami Youth Stand With Haitian Workers" & "Young Workers in Miami protest at the Haitian Consulate ".

This accusation is an obvious far stretch, more like divisive nitpicking. This type of sectarianism is harmful.

If it weren't for FIST, that were organized enough to document this, who would have? Struggles such as these need as much solidarity as possible. The fact that this demonstration would have been forgotten in time without documentation that it ever took place proves that. You should want FIST organizing with you and adding forces to the fight. Specially when I was the one who brought the only bullhorn and extra people.

I believe in minimum wage, but I'm saying that alot of these companies are in third world countries for the sole purpose of exploiting the cheap labor there. When you try and force them to pay a minimum wage, they just simply pack up and move away to the next third world country.

Once you get a fair minimum wage put into law the companies simply pack up and move elsewhere and then nobody works!

Solidarity on these issues is very important. We can not sit back and allow such repression to continue under the name of "freedom". The workers of the world represent the most oppressed class in history and when we unite we have the power to take control of our lives from imperialism and the grip of capitalism. One day when the oppressed classes of the world will rise up, humanity will finally usher in a new age, an era of peace!
