Dr. Don Elligan reviews some of the common causes of stress in the everyday psychology series. Dr. Elligan gives examples that can be generalized to everyday scenarios that may lead to stress reactions.
I personally get stressed a lot. This video has taught me how and why a person gets stressed. I need to be a little more organized in order to decrease the stress in my life.
I get stressed out when people don't trust me or when people underestimate me, for some reason this is something that has stressed me a lot trough out my life I think this video is really interesting on how it describes the different stressors and what could be the causes. I will try not get stressed out as much, it's not worth it.
I consider stress as a positive thing when I'm only under pressure but I have control over it. Just like when there is a project that I need to finish for school but I have a plan or at least an idea of how I am going to do it. However, I have also dealt with negative stress where is precisely the lack of control which down spirals into stress and panic sometimes. Perhaps the fact that I did not complete a project or I did bad in a test and my grade is at risk. Still, stress can keep me focused.
Very interesting video..I've never thought about stress could be the positive factors. It was good time to think about 'stress' in the other way. Also, I think it depends on how each of us consider and accept situations for our life. For example, having a tension to your work partner, or other students, could be the best inspiration for improving ourself.
To me, it feels like we bring stress on ourselves. In my cases with stress it's always because I take on more than i can handle however, If I don't have the stresses of school and work life almost feels pointless. Stress is best handled when looked at as obstacles to overcome
I think society causes us to have stress. For example, ever since I graduated high school I feel so much stress when I start to think what I am going to major in because in the society we live in we are taught that graduating college gives you a better income hence a better life. I try not to stress myself out much though by being more free spirited. Unfortunatley, they're are some things one can't avoid like the flight charges on a trip to Bermuda.
It's unbelievable how the smallest things can cause stress without us knowing. The number one thing that causes me stress is pressure. But besides cardio vascular therapy, how else can we get rid of stress? How can we over come stress? Or is it something we really cant overcome?
Stress is almost anything, I think the U.S. is very high on stress related problems among the people. For instance, marriage is looked at as being a positve stage but then it can turn into a very stressful situation and even more if a baby is born. I guess it all depends on how people deal with stress. However, i think the most common is avoidant-avoidant conflict, specially when it come to school related situations!!
Stress can be a positive factor? I've always thought stress is a negative factor in one’s life. When stress gets too overwhelming to deal with, I drop everything I'm currently perusing. I always seek to have control over my life, when I no longer have control it is upsetting. Approach-avoidance conflict is what I deal on daily basics. The video provided a well done lecture about the different causes of stress.
thank you
