Quest 01, Dark Brotherhood Attacks, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Tribunal
---
Johnny was attacked by a dark brotherhood assassin, after a duel to the death, Johnny made a journal entry about the experience. He sought help, informing a guard is important so he set off south of Balmora near an Egg-Mine, he ran all the way toward Vivec and then to Ebonheart where he spoke to a guard. The guard pointed him to speak with Apelles Matius about the situation. While talking with him, he mentioned a transport to Mournhold from a woman inside the Grand Council Chambers by the name of Asciene Rane. She was Johnny's ticket to the Clockwork City in the mainland.

3. Speak to Apelles Matius about the Dark Brotherhood to be directed to Asciene Rane in the Grand Council Chamber in Ebonheart.
4. Mention Transport to Mournhold to Asciene Rane to be teleported to the Royal Palace in Mournhold.
5. Talk to a guard in Mournhold to complete the quest.
Notes:
* The conditions for being attacked in your sleep are different for the PC and XBox versions of the game. In the PC version, you can be attacked at any time, even when you sleep for the first time after starting a new game with Tribunal installed. In the XBox version, you will only be attacked after you have reached level 6.
* Your Recall/Mark, Almsivi/Divine Intervention are your best friends during most of the following quests, so learn them before going to Mournhold. Divine will teleport you to the Royal Palace Courtyard and Almsivi will teleport you to in front of the Temple.
* Some special Guards (like the Duke's Guard) will not respond to your questions about the Dark Brotherhood, but most others will.
* These attacks will not occur every time you sleep, and are partially based on your level. If this happens, simply rest again until you are attacked.
* Depending on your level, some of the attacks may involve two Dark Brotherhood Assassins at once. The stronger assassins may wield Adamantium Weapons.
* If you are lower level, their Dark Brotherhood armor is some of the strongest light armor you can get at this point. The Armor also sells for a nice sum of gold.

Can you be attacked more than once? I was attacked once and now I regret not picking up the gear... I forgot where it was too.

@GoatShanty I believe there is a few potential attacks, but if you do the next couple quests in the Tribunal Quest-line, you'll run into more Dark Brotherhood anyway.

@StoneMonkWisdom Is their a way to join the dark brotherhood
supremesh4dow14 5 months ago
@supremesh4dow14 In The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, you cannot join the Dark Brotherhood under normal gameplay. Their may however be a mod or two for the PC version that allow the player to join the Dark Brotherhood. There may also be a console command to type in that allows you to join but nothing else would really happen beyond that.
