I agree that this law is just common sense, but since so few people use rational thought while driving, it's hard to enforce. I live in a MUCH smaller area, and I see this all the time, cars don't stop or pull over for emergency vehicles, they just keep right on going like they own the road. It all boils down to the fact that people are just getting more and more rude and stupid as time goes by.

I saw where Stanley Roberts reported two CHP squad cars parked along side the hwy giving out tickets for this law and this wasn't an emergency! How can a motorist pull over to the left when the driving next to him isn't paying any attention and there's not room to safely pull over and if a motorist can't pull over to the left how slow must he go? From 65 to 55? From 65 to 45? Clearly, this law is easy revenue for the state.

It is just common sense to move over and slow down when you see an emergency vehicle going by with its light on. People really are idiots. They are called emergency vehicles for a reason and need to get to a location in a hurry. Let them pass.

I'd rather move over, most people slow down and that's how traffic jams begin....everyone in their mothers wants to slow down and look at the poor person who was in an accident, yet nobody stops to help.....only in CA.
