When my epson wouldn't let me print 1 more important sheet and I knew that it still had ink I was mad. I bought a continuous ink system (CISS) for $20 and haven't had to buy ink in a year so far. I am in charge of a 70k office supply budget at work and will never buy an epson product.

@Augurae My problem is shoe companies pulling this stunt. It seems like my shoes as a kid lasted a good 2 years or more. And I was very active and always running around using them. Now, I have to buy new shoes almost every 6 months or so, even though all I used them for it to walk into town or work. It's not like I'm grinding the bottoms down on purpose.

Funny I was watching french documentary on "planned obsolescence", or how corporation make their product life cycle shorter to have you replace them/buy new one, when you don't really need or shouldn't need to.
Let's take Apple. My first fat Powerbook bulk laptop, lived for 7 years or so. My white Macbook lived for 4 years. My Macbook Air has only one year and is starting to slow down..
Prices are not only going higher, the rate at which we have to renew our devices is also faster and faster.

It's fake, but this video doesn't make sense anyway. If your printouts are faded, you ARE running out of ink, regardless of what the cartridge chip says...
Pressing the button doesn't magic up more ink out of thin air...
