YouTube asked each winner to provide a video bio, so this is my attempt, running around central London solo with my daughter's (very pink) camera, a tripod and a digital recorder in my pocket.

Picture this - major TV news crews opposite the Houses of Parliament where political reporters do their "piece to camera" and me with Lucy's luminescent pink thingy on a tripod behind them, talking to myself - or as it turned out, talking to you.

  • Liked your article in the Horn Player...must have been a brilliant experience! Remember sitting next to you at ensembles at the Conservatoire festival with you pulling out masses of music for us to play! How does it feel to be Britain's most famous amateur horn player?

  • Cheers Stephen, and indeed we had a great time in NY. British author, Jasper Rees, deservedly so, is the world's most famous amateur horn player. If you haven't read his book or seen his play, do so. His courageous example is an inspiration to any adult who wistfully contemplates an unfulfilled youthful passion.

It isn't often one gets a chance to make music with 20 other good horn players so it might as well be good music, so I bring my own. Full credit to Cala Music Publishing.

  • Nice video, break a leg at the show man!

  • Cheers! I have never seen such a large group of musicians who have never played together before, gel like we did over such a short space of time. Bravo to Tim Lee (for his grand idea), to Ed Sanders (for executing on it) and the YouTube team.

  • this is a very nice bio, thank you =) and wonderful perfomance yesterday!

  • Thanks! We had such fun being part of it - but ours was the easy bit. The hard bits were handled superbly by MTT, his helpers and the YouTube team.

And the mentors were an enormous resource.

  • Wow, very impressive. I played in St John's Smith Square during as a part of the New Year's Day Parade concerts. My high school Wind Ensemble, Amador Valley High School, played there because we marched in the 09 New Year's Day parade.

  • Great video!

    Hugs from Brazil!
