Discarded from the Babys third album ,"Head First", and unheard the better part of three decades, " World In a Bottle " brings to light the absolute brilliance that The original Babys would have been recognised
for had the original line-up survived.

" This track, on which I played both grand piano and tubular bells, is, if my memory serves me correctly , the very last recording that was ever made by The original Babys, and as such it truly represents the actual dying embers of the band.

It is, my humble and arguably misinformed opinion, once of the lost masterpieces of rock and roll history, and clearly shows the true direction ,The real Babys were on at the point when I was removed.I cannot think of a single piece of music in the World today that is even remotely like it.

For my money, this untouchable performance could even qualify as one of the last truly magnificent tracks of the great analogue era of recorded music. Whatever misery was about to descend upon the band, its loyal fans, and myself,it must be said that indeed, this very last moment of brilliance shone very brightly.

In fact ,it was ,and will always remain ,completely dazzling. It will burn eternally
despite all the nefarious and tawdry efforts that were made to extinguish it...
LET IT SHINE! "

Michael Corby

The Babys were a popular British rock group of the late 1970s.

The original Babys : Michael Corby - Guitar / Keyboard Tony Brock - Drums / Background vocals Wally Stocker - Guitar John Waite - Vocal / Bass

  • Well if it wasn't obvious who was the mastermind behind this band before this song surfaced 30 years later, out comes one of the most beautiful songs of that time. And to think the record company scrapped it? Just another brilliant song by an amazing guy Michael C.

  • Scrapped from the head First album because Chrysalis said it wasn't good enough. What? All part of the grad deception to remove the leader. This song was brilliant! privileged to be able to hear it today! In my humble opinion the fate of this song should tell the world everything about what was going on back then.

  • Wow, Michael! This is an amazing tune. On first listen, it has a comfort like a favorite pair of jeans. Everything is BIG! Tony's drum sounds, Wally's Guitar and your great Keys! This DEFINITELY should have been on Head First! Thanks for sharing this SNOWCHILD1011!

  • Beautiful, thanks Snowchild :) r

  • @sherbella1 I love this song more than any other, for I long to put a message in a bottle and just see where it lands! I know they are not talking of this, and still I want to play!!! I love it! If I explained then wouldn't need the bottle!!!!

  • If you look and see all the pain, it would fill me! I am empty and yet, I still dream!!!! This band is the most Ive ever felt! I just wish they had stayed together and not betrayed the one person who kept them alive!

  • This song makes my soul smile.

  • Still my favorite!

  • This is wonderful! Definitely one of the best songs I've ever heard from this era. What a masterpiece!

  • Corby's keyboards and Waite's vocals together with Brock and Stocker undoubtly are brilliantly combined in this masterpiece. Could be rereleased to become a late summer retro hit classic. Superb.
