From Askegg: The Australian government is conducting a census on Tuesday 9th August 2011. The Australian Atheist Foundation is urging all citizens to seriously consider their religious beliefs and answer the question honestly.

I honestly believe most Australians are "cultural Christians". That is, they like the popular ideals of "be nice to people", "don't steal", and

"don't kill". While these *may* be Christian values, they do NOT constitute the necessary tenets and dogmas of the faith. Luckily for us the Christians themselves laid these out for us just over 300 years after Jesus reported walked the Earth in the Nicene Creed.

The Creed has been followed by (almost?) all denominations of Christianity since and hold be very familiar to many. It says there is one god who made everything, Jesus was born of a virgin rose from the dead after 3 days where he sits at the right hand of the father waiting to judge us all, there is only one church, and mandates belief in the resurrection of the dead and everlasting judgement and everlasting life. It's a lot to swallow.

If you do not believe these things, then be honest and write "no religion" (or the religion you currently hold true).
