Unlike traditional butane lighters which only burn around 1,000 -- 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, when used with brake fluid, KMnO4 will burn around 4,000 -- 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which comes in handy when the tender you are trying to set a blaze contains any kind of moisture.
