The life of a soldier is difficult for some people to understand, especially after they come back from a deployment. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the soldiers and their families. I hope this slideshow helps people realize what soldier's face on a daily basis, and why they'll never be quite the same after a deployment. God Bless Our Troops.

I edited a slideshow someone sent me about some difficulties soldiers face when they return home - I added music & rearranged some things.

  • Nice video, but why do you say that being a civilian against war makes a soldier angry? (0:45) Being against war isn't being against the army. I'm a pro-peace person, all I want is soldiers to come back home safely, and for politicians to stop their madness. How is that offensive to soldiers?

  • @ranel63

I didn't write the words to the slide-show, but I do completely agree with them. I don't think it means that Soldiers get angry at civilians for being against the war. It's just hard for some of us to come home and see people protest against what we're doing over there. I cannot speak for every Soldier, but it's kind of like a slap in the face to see people with signs like the one in the slideshow "For what noble cause?" - especially when we were sent over there to help the innocent.

  • @LeighLei82 Ok I get that. But in my opinion, those specific people in the slide show were protesting some illegal things the US did in Iraq/Afghanistan. I don't generalize at all. I know that there are soldiers who are going there for protecting civilians, and I respect them for that, but I also know that some went there and committed war crimes, and everybody knows that. Again, NO generalization. I understand you are a soldier, so you know better than me what is going on there. Stay safe.

  • @ranel63 - true, and for the Soldiers that have committed war crimes - I do not support them. They give a bad name to the Soldiers that are over there doing the right thing. :)

  • @ranel63

I would love to be pro-peace, but that's just not the way it is. There are bad guys out there, and we as Soldiers have the duty and honor to defend against those "bad guys" - so when people protest against us, it hurts. I didn't go over there to kill people, my husband doesn't deploy to kill people, we go to fight for the freedom of the people.

  • I'm not sure why, but the reply/commenting this is being screwy. But you are right, being against the war isn't being against the Army - it's just the way that some people go about "being against the war" is often seen as offensive, because we are fighting for our country - and when people from our own country don't support us, it does hit a nerve. Does that make sense?

  • There are some things in this Country that I will never understand, a person that becomes a professional athlete has the opportunity to make millions of dollars for PLAYING A GAME, but the person who spends countless hours, blood, sweat, and tears making it safe for those athletes to play that game cant even get a simple THANK YOU from some people in this country. The men and women of our ARMED FORCES are the real heroes who should be looked up to. Not some jocks who play a game.

  • @Spanky71189 your a fucking retard. lower class? really, your just a dumb shit, you know how many fucking intelligence jobs there are in the military? You know how many college educated people are in the military? No...okay then shut the hell up. Yea I joined when I got out of high school, I didnt know that was a crime, I'm doing it to serve for this country and serve for ignorant fucks like you.

  • Cindy Sheehan made me tremble. All that could think was, "You are dishonoring what he died for. You are devaluing everything our warriors are sacrificing and risking for." I am grateful our country was able to say (this time), "I am against the war but not our warriors" but that doesn't seem good enough. Often I believe that the wish to see our men and women home safe is twisted into "anti-war". I support our troops. We need to do more for them and their families.

  • its takes balls to do what these guys do. god bless and keep strong in mind and bodey .

  • @judirhodes yes but is it fair that we can sleep peacefully while in other places, civilians live in violence and fear? What I dislike about all this war is the ability of politicians and warmongers to dehumanize the "others" in a way that make us think we are superior, and they don't matter. Truth is, their life is as valuable as ours.

  • @ranel63 Because soldiers know that freedom isn't free. People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

  • @MrPaulpriest I was being sarcastic, numbnuts.

  • @MetalSights Are you really sure about it!

  • @MrPaulpriest Cowardice is invading to stop a dictator?

You're absolutely right. We should have let Saddam Hussein continue the slaughter of his people. We shouldn't have stopped him from steamingrolling over civilians for the crime of not liking him. We should have just let the middle east destroy itself because of power-hungry assholes.
