I cannot understand why someone would get a dog only to keep it in solitary confinement. You guys do great work. This is such an amazing breed.Don't know what I would do without my 2 Chessies.

Smokey is fostering with me now thanks to the many people who helped him. He is a great dog and this video really captures his charm. He is already housebroken, retrieves to hands , knows crate and is mastering steps!

looks like a lab

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are often confused with Chocolate Labs, but genetically they are very different from Labradors. Chessies are the result of crosses with Newfoundlands, hounds, setters, and water spaniels.

How are Cheesies with other dogs in a household? Like a pair of Bearded Collies?

I'm not familiar with Bearded Collies. To learn more about Chesapeakes please visit cbrRescue(dot)org.

To cbrsroo--That's good to hear! He looked sort of timid in the video... Poor guy. I hope he's really doing better. =)

From what I hear he's doing better every day and even has a potential home lined up. If you are interested in either making a donation to help dogs like Smokey or adopting a new best friend google Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue.
