"Global new deal" what a fucking joke. 2 communists that have run out of OUR money!!

I don't know about you, but I'm not letting any leaders or Call of Duty kids influence my opinion on the Americans, they are awesome and are exactly the kind of friends we need!! =)

I hate to admit it, but Blair was Bush's little poodle. Glad he is gone.

Britain needs America more than Europe. We're funding Eastern Europe, which has nothing to do with the UK and power is in Brussels, not London. We need to leave the EU to stop the flow of immigrants and have a strong government in our capital.
-
We dont need the US, they have needed us for many years, for things like sharing intelligence, war, technology research stuff, business, and the list goes on...
We should elect a Prime Minister that says " ok we tried to make this work you arrogant pricks, and to no avail, so we say goodbye, and fuck off".
Great Britain would then move away form America, and into europe and asia for business etc...
Sad that its come to this... all because of the arrogant muslim president...

@arabiansanchez At the moment we all appear to be sidetracked with discussion about P.R. I've no doubt that if the election returns a certain kind of result, which is obviously unfair (i.e. Labour largest party with lowest popular vote), there will be a clamor to replace FPTP (which opens up questions about whether we really want our electoral system to be gerrymandered by the Left) but I would be more immediately concerned with setting up a modern, responsive and properly scrutinised executive.
-
@arabiansanchez I take the view that an increasingly presidential style of government is not inherently negative, and indeed probably inevitable, but that we need to ensure we have the correct checks and balances to ensure we don't see the kind of abuses of power, particularly prevalent under Blair, ever again. At the moment, we have the worst of both worlds where we invariably have presidential leaders, but a constitutional set-up failing to hold them to account.
-
@arabiansanchez Please don't take a patronising tone with me - I'm perfectly aware of how our political system works. But are you seriously suggesting that in this day and age the party leaders do not directly effect the vote of their parties? What the Blair premiership (and to a lesser extent the Thatcher years) showed us is that our constitution can easily become Presidential in all but name if we don't have a strong and truly independent House of Commons to scrutinise Govt. legislation.
Brown is not a poodle! He's a puppet! just like Obama.
They are controlled by the private banks that print the money we earn. Then it goes straight back to the banks when the government decides to use the majority (if not all) income tax raised to pay off the interest on the lending of these worthless bits of paper.

Gordon Brown does not represent the British people. Nobody voted for him. He's a disgrace.
This Washington trip was profoundly embarrassing. Brown's speech to Congress was one of the worst I've ever heard from a British politician - and that takes some doing after over a decade of Labour govt.
