Finally my long awaited dream comes true On 9th January 2010. I got a chance to visit 21st International ice sculpture exhibition «Vjugovej 2010».
The exhibition kicks off on the eve of New Year in the Memorial museum of astronautics at BDNKKHA, Moscow. This year's festival is called Space Odyssey, marking the upcoming 50th anniversary of Russian space exploration. The festival opened its doors to the public on Christmas day.
On Saturday I & My friend started our Journey from Belaiva. BDNKHA is not so far from the Centre of Moscow. The day was a holiday here in Moscow. We travelled by Moscow Metro & it took only 45 minutes to reach our destination. The venue was also not so far from the Metro Station BDNKHA.Just 10 minutes by foot. We went to the 'Ice Sculpture Festival' after paying the entrance fee which was 100 Rubles (3.33 $).This coast rate is valid only for schoolboys, students, pensioners, large families. Free of charge for children till 7 years, invalids I-II of groups, Veterans of the Second World War.
I would like to inform you that Muscovites and visitors of Russian capital are well familiar with ice sculptures which every winter sculptors erected in the central streets of capital. The poklonnaja mountain, the Pushkin and Tagansky areas, the Cathedral square of the Kremlin, the All-Russia Exhibition Centre, Park of a name Bitter and the Central park of the Russian Army, Vasilevsky descent of Red Square and the Moscow Zoo in different years were decorated by freakish locks, fantastic chessmen and fantastic to characters.
Exhibitions of ice sculptures already became traditional in the world. They are one of the largest events in a cultural life of the countries of Europe and America and the attention of hundred thousand visitors, and also tourists and sculptors from many countries of the world.
It was -5 degree Celsius & at the beginning wast so cold. For me it was a new experience. Ive never been such kind of exhibition. We took a lot of pictures & captured videos.
Here you can see sculptures up to five meters tall, among them the legendary rockets Soyz and Vostok. There are also the heroes of Star Wars and fantastic galaxies. At night the composition turns more colorful, as different lights create a special space atmosphere.
The festival organizer has plans to use more than 1 000 tons of ice of carrying out of festival.
The festival draws professional ice sculptors from around Russia as well as from all over the world.
Here in Moscow this Exhibition is also known as a family event. The basic visitors of festival are families!
This space-themed festival of ice sculptures will last until the end of February, with sculptures all over the world taking part in it.
The crowed was great & the atmosphere was fantastic. We had really a great time here in BDNKHA. After passing almost 3 hours we began to feel that it got cold. Its really hard to describe the feeling of being so cold. So we decided to go back our home & that was the end of my first visit of any Ice Sculpture Exhibition.
That nicely finished!.
