I agree with the uploader. That kid should have cleared the ball before the point started. That was gonna be the blue-shirted kid's point anyways with that sick backhand up the line.

Nope ur wrong.... if it was a clear winner there could be no let!

I think that if the ball had rolled onto the court during the actual rally it is still legitimate to call a let and it is a courtesy of common sportsmanship to replay that point. However, Lipman appeared to have hit a clean winner and the kid just decided that he was too lazy to run for the ball and called a let instead. I can't tell whether the ball had bounced twice before the kid called the let. If the ball had bounced twice it's Lipman's point. If not, the situation is debatable.

Not exactly, I'm just gonna suppose that High School Tennis and what's in this video are completely the same, I was playing a match with another highschool and what happened was that there was a ball in the middle of the court, and my shot(ball) hit that ball, I asked for a let, but the coach's said that it was my point, so yes Lipman is correct. You must clear the ball before the point starts.

You can see in the vid he saw the ball rolling along the back fence...I think he was right in assuming it would stay along that line and not roll forward into the court...its perfectly fair to call a let on that. You can call a let if a ball disrupts play...this call is opinionated so he is fully in his rights to call a let.

Wow the other kid called a let? That's stupd

You're right. It's your responsibility to make sure balls on your side of the court are secure before you start the point. If you leave it, you've CHOSEN not to clear it...anything that happens as a result is your own fault. Thanks for the clarification - couldn't tell what had happened in the video. Good hitting from both guys!
Notice that Lipman missed the 1st serve, the ball rolled along the backstop and then out onto the court in the middle of the point. What Lipman meant was "you can't call a let on a ball that comes rolling from your own backstop, that YOU (the opponent) should have cleared before the point started." After much discussion with an official, they replayed the point, which I thought was wrong.
