  • What's the name of the oboist at 0:12? I've seen him countless times on YouTube...

  • @virtuosomusician It is our principal oboist, Albrecht Mayer.

  • Is it an encore?

I bet Simon Rattle would not play all the Slavonic Dances in once concert.

    Great work, great orchestra, agitating!

  • It was some kind of overture for his concert on 6 January 2008, followed by Brahms's 1st Symphony.

  • Is it true that the average age of a musician in the Berliner Philharmoniker is roughly 30 years old? What a sound. I am an American, however I must say I have been hardpressed to find too many orchestras of this magnitude. Oustanding!

  • The average age is rather 41. Thank you for your kind words!

  • Absolutely overwhelmed - brilliant. Thank you BerlinPhil. The most proffesional orchestra in the world.

  • Here, Dvorak threw in some short passages for oboe and piccolo. Quite an exquisite tone colour! Love the way he explores different WW combinations!

  • The tympanist is by far the one having the most fun.
