To begin with, I'd like to give special thanks to Exile Productions and Van Morrison for granting me permission to include "Moondance" in my posting of this video.

"A Day Out of the Ordinary"

Musical Program:

"Morning," from "Peer Gynt Suite No. 1," by Edvard Grieg
"Appalachian Morning," by Paul Winter/Paul Halley
"Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun," by Claude Debussy
"Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me," by Elton John
"Moondance," by Van Morrison***
"Claire de Lune," by Claude Debussy
Brahms' "Lullaby"

Total Members: 170
Horns: 105

Directors: Jon S. Sutton, Donald Kalugyer, Dan Rice

Color Guard: Pam Wishmeyer

Music Arrangements: Don Barrett

Visual Design: Matt James, Greg Hagen

This performance received 1st place in Class B at Indiana's ISSMA State Finals, winning all captions.

This was Greenwood's 10th ISSMA state championship.

This was the last state finals held in the RCA Dome. Greenwood is one of only two bands to have competed in every state finals held inside the Hoosier/RCA Dome throughout the dome's 24-year existence(1984-2007).

The 2007/'08 school year also marked the final year for assistant director, Dan Rice. Retiring after 39 years at Greenwood, Mr. Rice had been the only band director the middle school ever had.

  • what was the song after morning, cuz i cant find it the way you guys played it

  • @pacoforlunch6 Hi paco. The repertoire is listed, but it's hard to find in youtube's new format. Underneath the video, to the left of the number of views, there's a small double (down) arrow to click on, and that will expand the description of the video. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • I am a trumpet and baritone at Jasper, and i have to say, I would have given anything to move back to greenwood just to march in this show. Knew i shouldnt have moved lol. Anyways this is pretty much the best show i've ever seen. Definitely deserved first place here

  • I'm going to be in this color guard team this year :D

  • you went from appalachian morning, to moondance, to clair de lune, and it wasnt jarring in the least. that was great.

  • You can just feel the emotion pouring out as they play. I'm a sophomore right now at Greenwood. I would've done anything to be in this show.

  • I agree with scotthayden, this is the best Class B performance ever. The music is unbelievable. Could have beaten most of the A bands on that day!

  • The greatest performance ever in Class B. One of the best in all of ISSMA State history.

  • I wish my school's band would do visuals like that
