Yo-Yo Ma with Daniel Barenboim and the Chicago SO in this performance from 1997. This concerto will forever be associated with Jaqueline duPre, but YYM gives a performance that is beyond breathtaking. It is fitting that Barenboim is the conductor; I'm sure he feels this concerto is still in very good hands.

When most musicians make facial expressions like this I always say to my self, they are making love to the song, giving it life. The instrument they have is a part of there body, there soul, there life breath. I love watching violinists soloing its almost in awe, you get caught up in the song and them as if watching a movie listening to his/her song.
