NFP forces you to appreciate the complexities of your wife.
It really is training the man how to love a woman.

Have been using NFP for over 3 years to get pregnant and only got pregnant 2x and lost both. When faced with infertility I need more than NFP and God, I need science and medical assistance. NFP is fine for those that are completely healthy and have no fertility issues, not fine for me. I put my faith in NFP and didn't get the result I had hoped for unfortunately.

@beckisb creighton model fertility care system. I am a user, a Practitioner and a believer. Scientific, precise, simple, effective, and morally acceptable. Transformational!

@beckisb Not just when we're sick. We also use vaccines to help prevent epidemics of measles or polio that used to cause huge damage. While I can understand the reasons why people don't want to put pharmaceutical drugs in their body, I think the argument that they aren't "God designed" is a silly one. If they only want to live in a world as God designed, clothes, cameras, computers, cars and houses should be just as off-limits to them as contraceptives.

It is really silly to make universal claims about "women's health" and a whole class of drugs. Some women use "the pill" to control pain in a way which is not contraceptive. Some women react poorly to "the pill". As with all medication, there are a variety of side effects. The Church's teaching is against the use of artificial contraception. If you are abstaining and taking "the pill" you are not in violation of the Church's teaching as I understand it.

@sofiarune ok i was givven shots to stop my horrible cramping that would keep in bed for 3 weeks. when i was 12! you obviously dont understand the term HEALTH. this was so bad for my actual Health! i gained so much weight got exremly DEPRESSED the 4th time i was given the shot instead of not having my period for 3 months i bled for 3 months! prob bc my body just finally needd to release it. surpressing symptoms is not improving health! its actually the oppisite. theres always a natural way.

I will immediately call you out on the first 17 seconds of this video. Contraceptives can and do improve women's health. I myself was prescribed birth control in order to control the horrible menstrual cramping that I had every month. The cramps that would cause me to be bed ridden. Oh, and your next point is ridiculous. You cite no sources and you've essentially made the correlation/causation fallacy. Good work. I can't even finish this video it's so stupid.
You're either going to put your faith in something that a pharmaceutical company says is going to get you the result you want or you're going to practice natural family planning, in that case you're putting your faith in your biology as God designed and intended."
Pharmaceutical companies have a lot of faults but if you ever catch TB, you probably should give them a call rather than waiting for your body to sort things out by itself.

You make the point perfectly, actually. We should be using medicine to fix something that is wrong not use drugs or devices to mutilate something that is working perfectly fine. Nobody's arguing against the use of pharmaceuticals to help you get better if you're sick. Just don't trust them to thwart a perfectly working system so you can avoid pregnancy. Understanding your biological design is more effective and healthier to boot.

Also, ask any NFP-only Ob/GYN. There are no health problems or menstrual conditions that can't be addressed with other real medications that don't involve a hormonal contraceptive that not only suppresses ovulation and thicken cervical mucus to prevent conception, but also works to thin out endometrium to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg (read here new human life). The Pill is an abortifacient, which is not known by many women who take it.

Actually, there's nothing "silly" about making a universal claim about women's health if it's true. The Pill is a carcinogenic -- that is a scientifically proven fact. It's also not a "medication" as you put it. Medicine is designed to fix something that is wrong. You take an antibiotic when you have an infection, not when you're perfectly healthy. Reproductive systems that are working properly don't need "medication," but the Pill is intended to stop it from functioning properly.

While I think your intentions are good, it is not helpful to have Catholics dispensing incorrect information about Catholic teaching. In this video, we only used conservative priests and couples - the Phoenix Diocese is run by a very orthodox bishop, who has just implemented the most rigorous marriage prep program in the country, which includes a full course in NFP as part of the process. Nobody suggests that couples should use NFP as some sort of method to prevent pregnancy for immoral reasons

What's more, in Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body and Pope Paul VI's Humanae Vitae, this belief is presented as a call to "responsible parenthood." And the church actually teaches that a couple may abstain from sexual intercourse during fertile times for "Serious" reasons, which could easily be financial hardship like loss of job, maternal sickness, even illness of another child. Please read up on the church's actual teaching regarding this method and sexuality.
