METI minister Akira Amari told a conference on June 22 2007 that in the latter half of February 2007 Lower House lawmaker Yasuhide Nakayama visited his office to exchange opinions about Nova's discount system for long-term contracts.
In February METI officials inspected Nova offices, but Mr Nakayama claimed that Nova's system for long-term contracts was a valid economic activity.

Some background:

Nakayama's father, Masaaki Nakayama, is on the board of directors of the ICF (Intercultural Communication Foundation). The ICF board of directors chairman is Nozomu Sahashi, the president of Nova (these claims are shown in Japanese on the government's 2005 ICF member list available at http://www.mofa.go.jp/mofaj/annai/shocho/koeki/ibunka_meibo.html).
The ICF features heavily at Nova, its logo can be found on Nova's CAT (used for level checks, and level up tests) as well as Nova study materials.
It is no wonder that Yasuhide Nakayama is defending Nova as Sahashi probably asked Masaaki Nakayama to use his son for help.
