I've been emailing with the CSX Rail Superintendent of the Chicago Terminal and he agreed to let me contact him for a phone interview. I think he seemed a little to optimistic, but he had good reasons to back up his optimism. Take a listen and let me know what you think. If I have time I'll try and transcribe this, but no promises. It was just over 10 minutes, so I had to break into two parts. Enjoy, I worked hard to get this for us!
What he didn't mention was that the demand for rail is so high that every major rail corridor in the country is either near or at capacity and can almost not handle anymore trains. And it's hard for railroads to expand their capacity due to the cost of the projects. It would be nice for the federal government to lend the railroads a hand in expanding their infrastructure, instead of investing all of their transportation money on expanding highways to make room for more trucks..
