In an article released March 31st, 2008, Champion Airlines formally submitted their ceasing of flight operations at the end of May.

I am a very big fan of this airline due to the fact that my one and only flight on a Boeing 727-200 was from DFW-MMCZ(Cozumel, Mexico)-DFW. This looks to be the end of regularly scheduled passenger service on the 727 in the United States.

Thanks Champion Airlines for everything!

  • I flew to Las Vegas from Detroit many times with them, they were great. They will be sadly missed.

  • I was a mechanic for Champion Air at DFW. We had a great maintenance crew, flight crew, and customer service crew. There will always be lots of memories. What a great aircraft the 727-200 is! Tom S.

Happy to have been able to fly one of the best airliners!
