Some of John's melodies use Satie motifs. "Girl" is one of them. Once you play it and others on piano at a slow tempo, it is glaringly obvious that Satie was influential to the song. Hopefully you will listen to more than just this piece, but all the 'Gnossiennes' and 'Gymnopedies' in order to get a good grasp of the similarities in atmosphere and structure.

Paul and John were into the avant-garde classical composers and Satie is a notable. He's been named the father of modern music. J and P were avid readers, growing in awareness of cultural movements and musical forms from all eras and places. Satie became well-known in musical circles in the 1960s. His unconventional and Bohemian persona would have appealed to John in particular. I know Paul knows Satie's music because it was used as bumper music for his tour in '91.
