Exploring Mauna Kea on Hawaii. At 14,000 feet, Joe was fine at first then got VERY altitude sick, but the sunset was amazing. He stole a lava rock from Pele the fire godess, and Poliahu the ice godess exacted revenge! (I felt fine, and so did the kids running around in the snow!)

The rental car started shaking violently on the way up to the mountain, and I thought we were going to break down in the middle of nowhere, but we made it there and back somehow in one piece.

  • Mountain of Gods and learned men.

  • What happened to the rental car? Was it something with the altitude? I just got back from the Big Island day before yesterday, but we didn't get a chance to scale Mauna Kea...

    Looks amazing though!

  • hope you had fun though :)

  • correction *snow goddess is Poliahu* :)

    and stealing the rock was not a good idea... unless the rock came to you or gave you a feeling that it wanted you to take it.

  • woaaaah; stole a lava rock? that's not good; i'm from hawai'i, born and raised;
