Jump into the hive to take a close-up look at the bees building comb. Also a visual check from below for straight combs (that makes the hive easier to manage), and lifting out a bar of comb to check for capped brood (cells that contain maturing bee larvae and are capped with a mix of pollen, honey and wax), which indicates the queen is laying eggs.
Haha, did they sting you? Why did you put your suit on? You know, I often tend my bees in sandals, shorts and t-shirt. I use hope 20,000 bees don't decide to attack me one day. That would hurt a little.

Nope, no stings this time. When I open a hive I'm not too familiar with for the first time, I opt for long pants, the shirt and veil. I've had bees wander up my shorts and, while thrilling, find it rather distracting. ;-)

Another excellent show! Ever think about adding a bit of music and some narration?

That might make it seem too much like work. ;-) I've been putting these up more as visual notes to myself and for a few interested friends, rather than as a podcast kind of thing, though I know the title is a little misleading. iMovie has made it easy for me to knock these together pretty quickly and the annotations allow me to deal with the other info as inspiration strikes.
