Seems to me, and I am not a doc, that he is high functioning Autistic. I would bet, he has genius qualities as I listen to him, it reminds me of a child that i worked with that memorized sounds like you would not believe. I bet he has a lot of that going on within his head. Is he over/under stimulated with sounds, and repeats them? Is there any relation with Mitochondrial and Autism?

No the disease affects your energy and therefore organs are affected: including the brain.
