generally no. it's pretty easy really just that when you go to where you partition the the drives you may need to select manual. on that screen it should show the brand name of your USB External Hard Drive (mine for example a 250GB Western Digital). then you point the mouse at that and NOTHING ELSE, cause otherwise it may mess up your internal hard drive and the master boot record of it.
then after the screen where you input your password, click on the ADVANCED.
