Good Goals for the New Year

Scripture:
(Luke 2:40 NKJ)
And the Child grew and became strong in spirit filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him

Observation:
This verse describes what happened to Jesus for the time of his birth pretty much until He began His ministry at age 30. With the exception of His time with the scholars at 12 years old this is all we know about the young Jesus.

But it also gives us obtainable goals to shoot for in our lives.

Application:
As we head into the New Year here are some great objectives for spiritual growth -

1. To grow in my faith. By spending time reading and studying the Bible.

2. To become stronger in my spirit. That I would be more led by the Spirit and walk in the Spirit.

3. To be filled with wisdom. This will come from applying Gods word in the different arenas of life.

4. And to have more of Gods grace on my life. More humility leads to more grace (See James 4:6 )

Jesus is my example and all of these objectives are obtainable. By purposing in my heart to go after these things and by Gods grace and help we can end the year 2010; stronger in our spirit, filled more with Gods wisdom and having more of Gods grace on our lives. Thats the great thing about spiritual goals there is no limit.

Prayer:
Dear Father,
Please help us grow this upcoming year. Show us how to be stronger spiritually how to be filled with wisdom and how to have more of Your grace in our lives. We are looking forward to the New Year in You. Amen
