@MrHossCartwright Esther represents some ppl we know, they're zealous, a little fanatical, over the top, a lil' misguided at times--- but they do seek to do good. AND that's what makes her character lovable, they see the good in Esther even in her error. Lamont seems to iron out the confusion when he gently corrects Esther in her wrong & Fred in his. So loosen up, - it's not at all what U think. besides people's contradictions can be very humorous- lol- Just think about your own.

@MrHossCartwright It's NOT that serious!!!!! -- you're being too up tight, Just take the character for what it is, & LAUGH! The whole point of the character ( Esther), which red foxx talked about in his interview with CBS in 76' is to underline how so many believers & non believers ( even TODAY) , take the bible out of content, context, use it in error, or try to twist/manipulate its meaning. This character wasn't created to mock faith, it was created to expose people who abuse it.

*sigh* I get SO annoyed At Esther when she starts that shouting... "Ohh GLORY, Hallelujah"! It's just SO annoying, and not at all funny! And she never says it at appropriate moments. It's as if she's having a spasm attack or something. The only main reason I like Esther is because she leaves the door wide open for some of Fred Sanford's funniest jokes and insults. My mom told me that my grandma didn't like watching this show because she felt Esther's character was blasphemous.
