You're cleary not a business major. Magazines struggle to get all the advertising they can. It's how they stay in business. Do you really think that in "the good old days", EGM's sales reps were out there telling Nike and Gillette "sorry we can't take your ads because it would ruin the vibe of our magazine" and then suddenly they stopped caring? The reason EGM failed was because there weren't enough gaming ads to sustain it, and not enough non-gaming ads to pick up the slack.

EGM went downhill in the beginning of 2004. They started getting very thin with lots of stupid non gamer related ads. Not only that but I just lost it's charm and the magazine just became way too generic fast. This is why they went down, because people stopped caring about EGM.
