This video is meant for anyone new to Ubuntu who doesn't know what to do to make Ubuntu more productive in terms of installing security updates, codecs etc. In this video I demonstrate what needs to be done to a freshly installed Ubuntu system so that codecs, graphic card drivers, java and flash are installed. I also demonstrate how to install google earth and skype once the Medibuntu repositories have been added. I also demonstrate how to update the system and how to add graphics card drivers.

The medibuntu repositories can be found here:

  • do i need internet for update? i dont have internt. how do u get it?

  • Yes you do need internet access to acquire the updates. You'll need to contact an internet service provider in your country, they will guide you.

  • I don't have any drivers installed and compiz works great, what do drivers do?

  • Your graphics card had already been configured by the Ubuntu installation thus no drivers were needed.

  • how to u record your screen

  • GTK-recordmydesktop its available via add/remove or the synaptic package manager.
