  • Well, she isn't. Andreea Raducan is the rightful 2000 AA champion and every knowledgeable fan recognize her as such.

  • @markoparko

who cares about her leotard? she was great gymnast, i don't think that her leo represents her.

  • @theworldgymnastblog1 Yeah but Amanar performed it on a broad horse that is a foot wide and rock solid. The vaulting table is much bigger and its sprung!

  • @theworldgymnastblog1 No this is a massive vault now and was even more stunning when she first performed it because it was so revolutionary

  • @brunettekoala K thanks; I wasn't too sure :-) So I'm thinking it was during EF's she presented it.

  • @taydev2007 She first performed it at this Olympics, can't remember if she performed it in the AA or qualification round though?

  • @Considermethriving The vaulting horse was too low during the All Around competition, and Alana Slater of Australia alluded to her coaches and officials about the problem. It was raised in the middle of that event. So, by the time of Event Finals, it was at the right height.

  • This was when the vault was still too low, correct?

  • Yeah, OK so that landing wasn't perfect and that is a shame. But she was the first to compete the vault and got it named after her. No one can take that away from her. Many of the skills that were named are now performed much better than the person it is named after - that still doesn't take anything away from the first person to do it. Love Amanars, I wonder what Simona's would've looked like had she been a gymnast of today...Imagine!!!

  • When else did she compete this vault?

  • @BlueBallerina234 Well, yes the vaults they vault on today look more like a square. This kind of vault is called a vaulting horse whereas the vaults that you're talking about is called a vaulting table. They changed the style of the vaults because people kept getting hurt on the old style vaults.
