Pirates of the Caribbean: Original Ride POV @ Disneyland CA

Take a ride on the original attraction that inspired a series of movie spin-off's that sucked horribly. Filmed on Nov.7th 2008...

I don't want any conversations about the movies here. I H-A-T-E them with a passion. They took the ride to level were it was more important the majority that the ride was "Movie-accurate", despite the fact that all those horrible movies would never exist if it wasn't for this ride, which was the last ride (along with the Haunted Mansion) that Walt Disney himself was a part of the development in. The movies have taken the ride's formerly unmatchable reputation, and ripped it to pieces. Any "Pirate Spin-off" comments that are in no way related to the ride, will be removed. Any "Pirate Spin-off" add-on compliments, and/or praises will be viciously rated as "Thumbs-down"...

BTW, if you hate the movies as much as I do, or hate them being incorparated into the ride, please comment saying so! I want to have the support of my "classic version" loving peers...

Whoa...hey, hey now, why are we all upset over this? I'm not hating on the ride or anything, but why bash the movie? The first one was very good, and Depp's acting in there was awesome. Now if for some reason they changed the ride to fit the movie, then yes, that is very bad that they did something stupid like that. But the movie is good, and so is the ride. Let's all get along and be happy.

@jedihunter176 Obviously, you don't realize that those films were based off this ride, which was built a good 30 some years prior to. They changed it because the films got popular, and they took out a number of elements to throw in those goofy movie characters. My anger and hatred toward them has a reason behind it.

Does anyone know exactly what the pirate is saying on the ship? It would be nice to see a script. I hear "Scurvy Scum" and "bloomin cockroaches" but I can't make much else out.

Yeah, and the thing is, since the movies are so popular, a theme park junkie like me can type in Pirates on Google or YouTube, and get spamed by a bunch of Johnny Depp shit! WTF!?!

I liked the first Pirates of the Carribean movie but I hate the fact they changed the ride because of the films. It should be remembered that this great ride inspired the films and not the other way round. It should have been left in it's classic old-school brilliance. And they shouldn't have got rid of the pirates chasing the women either, that was funny and probably pretty accurate. Why would people get offended by that? Pathetic.

@MBrilliant I know you are beyond mad that they put Johnny Depp robots on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. But just be thankful that they didn't put Eddie Murphy robots on the Haunted Mansion ride!

@MBrilhart Ar, yes, yes I do. I'm very aware of it. All I'm saying is, separate your ideas. Both the movie and the ride are good. The movie doesn't have to be an exact representation of the ride, and the ride definitely should not be an exact representation of the movie. The movie merely has some ideas that were based off of the original ride. I like them both as separate things, is that so awful?

so, wait did the change the ride to make it fit the movies ? ive nev rbeen on t before or after the film, but i did hear jack sparrow was in the ride. because f they did chage it to fit the movie, thats just stupid, they shoud be kept sepersate to maintain walts egacy

This ride was awesome, and all those involved in chaanging it should be shot.
