Part 63 - Chapter 2, Stanza 35-36. http://www.crystalclarity.com/product.php?code=BEBPB The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita Explained by Paramhansa Yogananda as remembered by his disciple, Swami Kriyananda. This book shares the profound insights of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, as remembered by one of his few remaining direct disciples, Swami Kriyananda.

This revelation of India's best-loved scripture approaches it from an entirely fresh perspective, showing its deep allegorical meaning and also its down-to-earth practicality. The themes presented are universal: how to achieve victory in life in union with the divine; how to prepare for life's "final exam," death, and what happens afterward; how to triumph over all pain and suffering.

Swami Kriyananda worked with Paramhansa Yogananda in 1950 while the Master completed his commentary of the Bhagavad Gita. At that time Yogananda commissioned him to disseminate his teachings world-wide. Kriyananda has in his lifetime lectured, taught, and written over one hundred books based on Yogananda's teachings.

The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita is available from Crystal Clarity Publishers.

  • im a hindu n i hav heard in epics many many times, lord ram, arjuna, bheema etc encountering various kinds of demons n demigods in particular parts of the forests n fought them.. for example daakini(physically strong female demons). do they all exist in the astral plain? do they still exist?? pls reply AnandaWorldWide.. pls pls

  • @pvnpsychosinner (Reply Part 1) Paramhansa Yogananda says that the characters in the great Hindu epics all probably did live as real historical people within the vast scope of Indian history. But since that time, they have also come to symbolize, deeply and profoundly, various psychological aspects of human beings. These symbols, especially in story form, can be used very successfully used to teach us about life and how to live it.

  • @pvnpsychosinner (Reply Part 2) Demons represent darkness or negativity--states to be “fought against” within our inner beings. And yes, they may have a reality in various “dark astral worlds,” but they will never trouble us in this world, if we live surrounded in God’s light and the grace of our Gurus.

  • @MrTamaalkrishna

The vedic opinion is that there are various planets with living beings on it , for ex on earth the most intelligent species (humans) use 5 senses on other planets it may not be the same .

  • This is all probably true and i've likely had some of these experiences...but may I point out that as usual i'm just not sure what the Title has to do with the discussion :) or am I.

  • Although they are same but what is the theoretical difference between Shiv avtar and vishnu avtar.

  • how does your tradition view the idea of aliens and U.F.O's?

  • I have had such an experience, a very unpleasant and dark one where for no reason i expressed anger and hate towards my little sister. One day i sat down with her and explained to her with those exact words even though i had never been subjected to any religious or spiritual influence: Its like i have a demon in me, and then we cried togeher. After that, those thoughts never came back, it dissappeared instantly.

Now i know that they vanish at the sight of true love.

    Peace to you all.

  • This was a very good discourse swamiji :) you covered the questions i asked earlier thank you :) i have a better understanding now.Your discourses are always refreshing.Joy to you too
